Purpose The Environmental & Contextual Factors Guide identifies the physical, atmospheric, architectural, and situational conditions that influence the likelihood, intensity, or interpretation of anomalous events. This guide does not assume causation; it provides a structured framework for understanding how environment and context shape perception, behavior, and field outcomes.
Scope This guide covers environmental variables (light, sound, temperature, airflow, electromagnetic conditions), architectural features (layout, materials, liminality), and contextual factors (time of day, social dynamics, emotional atmosphere). It is used to support field analysis, case comparison, and interpretive clarity.
Primary Factor Categories
1. Atmospheric Conditions
Variables that influence sensory perception and environmental stability. Includes: humidity, temperature gradients, barometric pressure, fog, wind patterns. Relevance: Sudden shifts often correlate with Environmental Anomaly Events.
2. Acoustic Environment
Sound behavior within a space. Includes: echo, dampening, silence pockets, infrasound, mechanical hum. Relevance: Acoustic irregularities frequently precede perceptual or spatial anomalies.
3. Light & Visibility
