Purpose A structured index of events, moments, and conditions in which the boundary between ordinary experience and anomalous phenomena becomes unusually permeable. This catalog does not assume cause; it documents patterns, contexts, and recurrences across fieldwork, folklore, witness accounts, and environmental data.
Scope Liminal Events are categorized by the type of threshold crossed — temporal, spatial, psychological, environmental, or situational. Each event type is treated as a repeatable pattern rather than a singular incident.
CATEGORY ARCHITECTURE
Each Liminal Event entry will follow this standardized IPAS format:
Definition — What the event is in institutional terms.
Primary Threshold Type — Temporal, spatial, environmental, psychological, situational.
Common Triggers — Conditions that precede or coincide with the event.
Observed Phenomena — Recurring sensory, environmental, or behavioral markers.
Cultural Parallels — Folklore, historical accounts, or cross‑cultural analogues.
Field Indicators — What investigators note on-site.
Interpretive Models — Competing explanations (anthropological, psychological, environmental, anomalous).
Risk & Stability Profile — Whether the event tends to escalate, dissipate, or recur.
Documentation Notes — How IPAS records, verifies, and contextualizes the event.
PRIMARY EVENT FAMILIES
These are the major categories we will populate. You can confirm or adjust the list before we begin writing entries.
1. Temporal Distortion Events
Moments where time perception or sequence becomes unstable. Examples: time slips, missing time, looped moments, temporal compression.
2. Spatial Threshold Events
Locations that behave as transitional zones. Examples: vanishing paths, repeating corridors, boundary bleed-throughs.
3. Environmental Anomaly Events
Shifts in atmosphere, sound, light, or physical conditions. Examples: sudden silence, localized fog, electrical irregularities.
4. Psychological/Perceptual Events
Internal experiences with external correlates. Examples: presence perception, sudden dread, intrusive impressions.
5. Entity-Adjacent Events
Events that precede, accompany, or follow entity encounters. Examples: calling events, crisis echoes, shadow convergence.
6. Object-Linked Events
Anomalies tied to artifacts, heirlooms, or items. Examples: activation moments, displacement events, resonance spikes.
7. Situational/Contextual Events
Events triggered by human behavior, ritual, or social conditions. Examples: threshold gatherings, grief-induced openings, conflict echoes.
